Bertha's is a real Fell's Point institution. Its mussels have been made famous by the green "Eat Bertha's Mussels" bumper stickers that are seen anywhere and everywhere. We've heard reports of bumper sticker sightings in Hawaii, Australia and Europe. Owners Laura and Tony Norris opened Bertha's in 1972, borrowing the name from a piece of stained glass they obtained from a church that was being remodeled. Bertha's was one of the first sit down restaurants in Fell's Point.
When
you walk into Bertha's, you can feel the warmth of a well-loved tavern.
On a snowy day in Fell's Point, locals flock to the restaurant to get
a pint and banter with their neighbors. If you are a sensitive soul,
you will also feel the presence of many spirits in the building, for
Bertha's is one of our haunted stops.
